JUSTICE FOR WOMEN Towards a more effective rights protection and access to judicial procedures for victims of crimes

CECL, in cooperation with Asociatia Pro Refugiu in Romania, Association Trabe Iniciativas para la Economia Social y Solidaria in Spain, the Center for the Study of Democracy in Bulgaria, Association Demetra in Bulgaria and the Italian Coalition for Civil Liberties and Rights, has been awarded the project “Justice for Women – Towards a more effective rights protection and access to judicial procedures for victims of crimes”. The main goal of the project is to increase the capacity of legal professionals and stakeholders to tackle un-reporting of cases, ensure better efficiency of the protection order, proper access to justice and to financial compensation, as well as to improve cooperation, transferability of best practices and strategies between EU states.

To achieve these, the project involves a number of actions including transnational and national experts working groups; joint strategy paper on un-reporting of cases; guide on indicators & standards to assess damages and financial compensation; local workshops and case conferences on protection of women rights in Greece, Romania, Spain, Bulgaria and Italy.

The project is expected to benefit a number of judges; prosecutors; lawyers; police officers; law enforcement officials; social and health professionals; representatives of civil society and victims’ support services; courts; bar associations and the competent national authorities.
