Objective

The overall objective is to improve policy, legislation and implementation processes at the central level in view of EU accession of Serbia. In particular, the project aims to increase efficiency, liability and transparency of the Serbian National Assembly particularly in the exercise of its representative role, its legislative function (especially in the process of harmonization of Serbian legislation with the EU acquis and in the implementation follow-up of the adopted legislation) and its oversight function towards the executive.
These will be approached through the following components:

Component 1 – Enhancing cooperation between the National Assembly and the Government in the law-making process
Component 2 – Improving working practices the National Assembly in the adoption of legislation, in particular as related to harmonisation with the acquis
Component 3 – Improvement of organizational structure, internal procedures and work practices and upgrading the level of professionalism in the Parliament
Component 4 – Improving the exercise of the parliamentary oversight function and the related cooperation with the Government and with Independent State Bodies
Component 5 – Increasing the transparency of the Parliament work and the participation of the civil society in the Parliament activities and in the law making process
Component 6 – Follow up of the activities: European Programs Budget and Financing Schemes
