We wοuld like to inform you of the successful completion of the Transnational Conference entitled “EU Competition Law in the Digital Era: Challenges and Recent Developments,” held in Athens, Greece on 27 April 2026.
The Conference was organised by the Centre for European Constitutional Law – Themistocles and Dimitris Tsatsos Foundation and constituted the final event of the European co-funded project “CompEUte – Multidisciplinary Judicial Training for the Digital Single Market,” implemented during the period 2024–2026 by the Tsatsos Foundation, in cooperation with the National School of the Judiciary (ESDI) and the Hellenic Competition Commission.
The Conference brought together members of the judiciary, representatives of academia and officials from European institutions, and addressed key issues relating to the application of competition law in the context of the evolving digital economy.
During the proceedings, current challenges relating to digital markets were examined, together with recent developments in case law, as well as issues concerning market definition and the standard of proof. Attention was devoted to the panel discussion, which enabled an exchange of views on the challenges encountered by judicial and administrative authorities in the enforcement of EU competition law.
Sincere appreciation is expressed to all speakers and participants, for their contribution to the Conference. Their participation contributed to the development of a high-level exchange of views.
Particular acknowledgment is extended to Ms Irene (Eirini) Sharp, President of the Hellenic Competition Commission and Honorary President of the Council of State, Mr Athanasios Rantos, Advocate General at the Court of Justice of the European Union and Honorary President of the Council of State, and Ms Taxiarchia Komvou, Director General of the National School of the Judiciary (ESDI), who honoured the Conference with their presence.
We are confident that the conclusions and reflections emerging from the Conference will constitute a useful basis for further academic and practical engagement in the field.
