{"id":18441,"date":"2025-07-30T12:24:03","date_gmt":"2025-07-30T09:24:03","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.cecl.gr\/?p=18441"},"modified":"2026-02-24T16:51:31","modified_gmt":"2026-02-24T14:51:31","slug":"title-30-july-international-day-against-trafficking-in-persons","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.cecl.gr\/en\/category-projects\/2025\/07\/30\/title-30-july-international-day-against-trafficking-in-persons\/","title":{"rendered":"30 July \u2013 International Day against Trafficking in Persons"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Trafficking in human beings, especially children, is a cruel, multifaceted, and constantly evolving threat.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>In 2024, 465 new cases were reported to the National Reporting Mechanism in Greece, 99 of which involved children.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Most children were recruited in their countries of origin, while extensive use of social media and new technologies is recorded.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Many children were found living in exploitative conditions, often in homes with adults posing as parents or guardians.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>As perpetrators\u2019 tactics evolve, maintaining constant awareness and access to up-to-date, effective tools is essential to combat child trafficking.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The <strong>SAFE BORDERS<\/strong> project, co-funded by the EU and implemented in eight EU Member States\u2014including Greece, Italy, Bulgaria, Romania, Poland, Belgium, Finland, and Portugal\u2014as well as in Western Balkan countries, aims to strengthen the expertise of judicial authorities and frontline professionals, with a focus on child protection.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The project includes:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2713 Capacity building of judicial authorities and frontline professionals.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2713 Strengthening cross-border cooperation<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2713 Development of an AI platform to improve the identification of criminal networks and the protection of vulnerable groups<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2713 Public information and awareness-raising activities<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Learn more about the actions of the SAFE BORDERS project in the following video<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-block-embed-youtube wp-embed-aspect-16-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<iframe title=\"English SafeBorders video\" width=\"800\" height=\"450\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/DFdgOGYsDPo?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer;
